Watch as drivers left stranded in 12-hour traffic jam during Texas winter storm
Texas officials are reporting icy weather conditions as winter storms left some drivers stuck on the road for over 12 hours.
Kerrville police urged residents to stay home due to “very slick” roadways and vehicles being stuck on Interstate 10 in the winter storm.
“(The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office) is dealing with multiple jackknifed and stuck 18 wheelers on IH 10,” the department said in a Thursday, Feb. 3 post. “The interstate is not drivable and should be avoided. Traffic is at a standstill in both directions.”
One driver captured her 12-hour wait in traffic during the evening of Feb. 3 — and into the next morning.
Tierra Zabster told Storyful she’d been stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic since 10 p.m. Thursday.
Video shows her moving at a glacial pace behind semi-trucks on I-10.
The Kerrville Police Department updated residents the morning of Feb. 4 and said conditions were worse than the day before due to slick roads, accidents and stuck cars.
“Travel is risky and once again we are asking folks to stay home unless it’s an emergency,” the department said.
Cele Gaytan told Storyful she’d been stuck for over 12 hours while trying to go to work.
According to Gaytan, she was “literally two exits away from the exit (she) needed to be at work.”
Kerrville is about 65 miles northwest of San Antonio.
