Scott Blau was in the middle of a phone call when his wife started jumping around erratically.

“I thought, ‘What is she doing?’” Blau, a retired electrician who lives in Kilmarnock, told lottery officials.

Then, she slapped a lottery ticket in front of him and he saw the $100,000 prize, according to the Virginia lottery.

Blau quickly ended his phone call once he saw the jackpot, lottery officials said.

Blau had bought the winning ticket at the Food Lion in Kilmarnock, and his wife scratched off the ticket while he was on the phone, he told lottery officials.

The Blaus won the jackpot prize in the Joker’s Wild scratch-off, which is the first top prize awarded for the game, according to the Virginia Lottery.

“It feels great to win!” he told lottery officials.

Kilmarnock is about 70 miles east of Richmond.
