‘My jaw dropped about a foot.’ 62-year-old woman reacts to her Michigan lottery win
A 62-year-old woman could hardly believe the big prize she won while playing her favorite Michigan Lottery game.
“I scratched my ticket in my car when I got home and when I saw I’d revealed six red words for $300,000, my jaw dropped about a foot,” she told lottery officials. “I was dumbfounded.”
Not convinced she could believe her eyes, the Saginaw County woman even had her son-in-law check over the Cashword Multiplier instant game ticket, according to an Aug. 25 news release.
While she was thrilled to have won hundreds of thousands of dollars, the woman waited nearly a year before claiming her prize.
“I’ve had this ticket for about a year and have been waiting for the right time to cash it,” the woman, who chose to remain anonymous, recently said. “It feels amazing to finally be holding my check.”
She plans to renovate parts of her home with her newfound cash, according to the news release.
Lottery officials say the winning ticket was sold at GC Express gas station in Caro, about 90 miles north of Detroit.
