A South Carolina man using a tractor to clear brush and trees was killed when a tree fell and hit him, officials said.

The 67-year-old had been working on his property with his brother when the tree came down on Friday, Sept. 16, according to WYFF and preliminary information from the Anderson County coroner’s office.

First responders started to treat the man at the scene. He was later flown to a Greenville hospital and died, officials said in a news release.

The man was identified as Wallace Terry Anthony of Pendleton, a town roughly 30 miles southwest of Greenville.

“The victim suffered severe head trauma” before he died from his injuries, the coroner’s office wrote.

As of Sept. 17, an investigation continued into the fatal incident, which was reported along Olden Porter Road in Pendleton.
