A man working on a car at his home was run over and killed when he tried to stop it from rolling down the driveway, according to South Carolina officials.

Antonio A. Miranda, 49, was repairing a 2009 Ford sedan at his home in Greenville on Dec. 26 when it started to roll, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol and a coroner’s report.

Miranda tried to stop the car and was struck, according to a report from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. The car then struck a parked vehicle.

Officials responded to the home and pronounced Miranda dead just before 5 p.m. on Dec. 26, the report says.

Miranda died of blunt force injury to the head, according to the coroner’s report.

An obituary for Miranda could not be found online. A phone number listed for Miranda’s address was disconnected.

Greenville is about 100 miles northwest of Columbia.
