Solomon Sebehat plays the lottery for fun — and that’s always been enough for him, he told Virginia lottery officials.

“If I get it, I get it,” the Springfield resident told lottery officials in a Jan. 5 news release.

That’s why Sebehat was stunned when he won a staggering prize just days into 2023 — a $1 million jackpot in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.

“I was just shocked!” he told Virginia Lottery officials “I just never believe I am a lucky person to win this much in my life!”

Sebehat bought his lucky ticket at a Safeway in Burke, he told lottery officials. His ticket was one of five that won in the drawing.

Sebehat told lottery officials he plans to use the prize to pay off his mortgage, save for retirement and help out his family.

Springfield is about 15 miles southwest of Arlington.
