Woman nearly quit using same numbers on Maryland lottery game. Then came a big win
A Maryland woman repeatedly played the same numbers on a lottery game without luck. Then — while on the verge of quitting — she finally won big.
The woman, a 59-year-old Baltimore County resident, has been consistently using her birth date to draw lottery numbers to play Keno for a year, according to a March 1 news release from the Maryland Lottery.
But her strategy didn’t seem to be paying off, so she vowed to quit unless she won soon.
“Her wait for a win ended on Feb. 26, when she hit for $40,000 on an 8-spot Keno bet,” the Maryland Lottery stated.
The woman purchased her ticket at a convenience store along with a snack and watched the drawings from the store monitor.
As her numbers began matching, she became excited. When they continued to match, she grew antsy.
“I was afraid to look, because I didn’t want to jinx myself,” the woman told the Maryland Lottery.
When she finally looked up and saw she had won $40,000, she exclaimed, “Oh my God.”
She hasn’t yet decided what she will do with her winnings.
