70-year-old on Easter walk and motorcyclist die in chaotic crash, California cops say
A chaotic crash that may have been sparked by a street race killed two people on Easter morning, including a 70-year-old woman walking on the sidewalk, California police said.
The crash, reported at 9:19 a.m. Sunday, April 9, also killed a 35-year-old man who was thrown from his motorcycle, Fullerton police said in a news release.
Bystanders told KTLA the motorcycle and a car may have been racing before the crash. Police said speed may have been a factor in the collision.
The white Yamaha R6 motorcycle and dark gray Audi sedan slammed into a gold Toyota Sienna minivan as it turned onto a side street, police said.
The collision threw the 35-year-old off his motorcycle, while the Audi careened onto a sidewalk, where it hit the 70-year-old woman and a bicyclist, police said.
The Audi then hit a telephone pole and crashed through a fence before hitting a home, causing a gas leak, police said.
The 70-year-old woman died at the scene, the release said. The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he also died.
The bicyclist was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, police said. Two people in the van, a 74-year-old man and his 15-year-old passenger, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Audi had only a complaint of pain. An investigation into the crash continues.
