Mom didn’t believe her big MD lottery prize, so she scanned ticket ‘again and again’
A Maryland mom was filling her car up in Bethesda recently when a sign advertising lottery tickets for sale caught her eye.
The 47-year-old said she isn’t a regular lottery player, but the sign motivated her to grab a 10-spot Keno ticket for two drawings, according to an April 13 Maryland Lottery news release.
“I had zero intention of buying a ticket,” she told officials.
When the woman scanned her ticket, she couldn’t believe what she saw, according to officials. She had won $48, 000.
“I scanned it again and again. Then, I walked all the way around the store twice then back to the scanner to try it again,” she told officials. “I don’t know whether it was nerves or excitement, but I suddenly started sweating.”
The mom, who works as a fitness coach, told officials she plans to use her prize money to pay for her children’s education.
The winning ticket came from a Marathon in Bethesda, less than 10 miles outside of Washington, D.C.
