A South Carolina man finally knows what it feels like to win the lottery.

He told the South Carolina Education Lottery it just took waiting 20 years to find out.

The man, who was not named in a June 1 news release from the agency, bought a $10 lucky scratch-off ticket from a convenience store in Greenwood and got a $300,000 prize.

“I’m so happy it happened,” he said, according to the release. “I wish everyone could experience it.”

His first purchase as a winner was a new car.

Greenwood is about 80 miles northwest of Columbia.
