Grandson convinced grandma to stop at store. She left with life-changing lottery jackpot
A woman walked away with a winning lottery ticket after her grandson asked her to stop at a South Carolina store, lottery officials say.
She bought the $10 scratch-off during their visit to the KP Foodmart in Anderson, according to a news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Soon after, she discovered the $300,000 windfall.
“I was sitting down at home, scratching the ticket I bought and all of sudden there it was,” she told lottery officials. “I started screaming.”
With her newfound fortune, the woman said she hopes to fulfill her dreams of starting a business, officials said.
She beat odds of 1 in 900,000 to snag the Multiplier Surge game’s $300,000 prize, according to lottery officials. Only three top prizes remain.
Anderson is about 115 miles northwest of Columbia.
