A lottery player in Maryland caught a lucky streak that left him stunned and flush with cash, officials said.

The player, a 65-year-old retiree from Berlin, recently visited a local convenience store to cash in a trio of winning $10 scratch-off tickets. Then his good fortune “snowballed into a landslide of luck,” according to an Aug. 21 news release from the Maryland Lottery.

After cashing his tickets, the man, who calls himself “Old Skool,” picked up two $50,000 scratch-offs, officials said.

“When you’re on a roll, you’re on a roll and you’ve just got to roll with it,” he told lottery officials.

The first ticket revealed a $30 prize, while the second contained a surprising $50,000 sum.

“I scanned it at the counter scanner and when I saw the $50,000 prize I was all shook up,” he told lottery officials.

After confirming his win, he rushed home to tell his wife and later returned to the convenience store to express his gratitude to the clerk.

The man, who said he worked for more than four decades in the automotive industry, said his prize is like an “unexpected salary,” officials said.

Berlin is about 10 miles west of Ocean City.
