Man buys lottery ticket on family vacation in Michigan. Then he ‘started hollering’
A man began a family vacation in perhaps the best way possible — with a jackpot lottery win.
The man from Calhoun County, Michigan, was traveling to northern Michigan for vacation when he stopped to buy an X’s & O’s Bingo lottery ticket at a convenience store in Alma, the Michigan Lottery said in a news release.
“I scratched the barcode right away and scanned the ticket,” he told Michigan Lottery officials. “When I saw the winning amount, I thought: ‘This can’t be real.’”
His ticket won the game’s top prize of $300,000. The game started with three $300,000 prizes and 10 prizes of $10,000.
He said his wife scanned the ticket “over and over” before their win came to fruition.
“When $300,000 continued coming up on the screen, we both started hollering!” he said.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, said he plans to pay off his home and take his wife “out to a nice dinner.”
Alma is about 80 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
