1-month-old twins die after ‘devastated’ dad finds them unresponsive in crib, cops say
A Texas family is devastated after police say 1-month-old twins died after their father found them unresponsive in their crib.
“This is a very, very tragic and very heartbreaking scene. Obviously, the family is devastated,” Houston Police Department Assistant Police Chief Patricia Cantu said in video of a news conference.
The babies had just fed before the father left the home to drop his wife off somewhere Wednesday, Oct. 4, leaving the twins with a family member, Cantu said.
When the father returned home, he found the infants in the crib unresponsive and called 911 immediately, Cantu said.
“The dispatcher was able to provide CPR instructions, and the father provided aid until the ambulance arrived. Unfortunately the twins did not survive,” Cantu said.
Police say there were no visible signs of trauma.
“Everything seems natural, there didn’t seem any foul play, it doesn’t seem like that. Once again, the family is devastated, looks like they’re a very, very caring family,” Cantu said.
Police say no arrests have been made and it is protocol to investigate pending the medical examiner’s findings.
