State Farm agent stole client’s insurance payment and took off, Georgia officials say
A former State Farm insurance agent is wanted after authorities said he pocketed $3,500 intended to cover a client’s insurance premium.
The 42-year-old man from Woodstock faces charges of insurance fraud and forgery, according to Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office began investigating fraud accusations against the insurance agent in 2021 before turning the case over to King’s office, the commissioner said.
While working at State Farm, the agent received a $3,500 premium payment from a client and deposited the check into his personal bank account, investigators said.
He was later fired, according to King.
Warrants were issued for his arrest Nov. 15, but authorities said the ex-agent was still wanted as of Dec. 12.
McClatchy News reached out to State Farm for comment and was awaiting a response.
Woodstock is about 30 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
