Powerball player wins $1 million in Florida. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A lottery player is set to get richer after scoring a huge prize in Florida.
The lucky winner’s Powerball ticket matched five of the six numbers picked in the March 9 drawing, making it worth $1 million, according to the Florida Lottery.
The numbers picked in the drawing were white balls 30-36-49-52-63, with Powerball number 16.
The winning ticket, which matched all five white balls, was sold at City Food Mart in the Polk County town of Haines City, according to WFLA and the USA Today Network.
Though the lottery player won big, the ticket was one number from scoring the estimated jackpot prize of $511 million. The odds of hitting the jackpot are steep, standing at over 1 in 292 million, according to Powerball rules.
News outlets didn’t say whether the winner claimed the $1 million prize, and the Florida Lottery didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on March 11.
But if the Powerball winner hasn’t come forward yet, there’s still time. The Florida Lottery gives players about six months to cash in on their prizes in drawing games, online rules show.
Haines City is roughly a 40-mile drive southwest of Orlando.
