A Missouri man was filled with excitement when he saw how much he won on a lottery scratch-off ticket.

The man stopped at a store in Hazelwood that he goes to regularly to buy a $50 “500X” Scratchers ticket, according to a March 28 news release from the Missouri Lottery.

“I go there every day,” he told lottery officials. “Every day … I go purchase my ticket.”

He was surprised when he scratched the ticket and saw the “500X” symbol.

“I kind of fist-pumped in the store and said, ‘Yes!’” he said. “I was very excited.”

The man went to show his wife the ticket and that he won $50,000. At first she didn’t believe him, but then asked if he signed it.

“Actually, I had not signed it. I signed it in front of her,” he said.

He said he plans to replace the roof on his house with the money.

Hazelwood is about a 20-mile drive northwest of St. Louis.
