A security guard has been playing the same lottery numbers for months in Maryland.

Her dedication finally paid off with a $50,000 winning ticket.

The woman bought a Pick 5 game for $2 from a 4 Corners Wine & Liquor in Langley Park, the Maryland Lottery said in a May 21 news release.

She played her usual numbers, 21083, and put the ticket in a stack of other tickets she hadn’t checked, lottery officials said.

Once she got around to scanning the tickets, she realized her Pick 5 ticket had won her $50,000.

“I didn’t know I won until a couple of weeks later,” she told lottery officials.

“She added that she is still mentally processing her win and is undecided on how she will spend her prize,” lottery officials said.

Langley Park is about a 30-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
