Crossing guard gave marijuana to middle schoolers and smoked it with one, PA cops say

A middle school crossing guard has been arrested after Pennsylvania authorities say she provided marijuana and vapes to students.

Kiara Lee, 26, has been charged with two counts each of possession of marijuana, corruption of minors and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, court records show.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office said in a June 5 news release the investigation began May 16 when the Penn Wood Middle School principal spoke with a student regarding the use of drugs at or near school.

The student told the principal they saw Lee, a crossing guard for the school, provide electronic cigarettes to a student three times, the district attorney said.

The intersection where Lee is stationed is 0.3 miles from the middle school.

Authorities said the student who received the vapes also “frequently smoked marijuana with the crossing guard.”

That same student had been receiving vapes and marijuana edibles from Lee, district attorney Jack Stollsteimer said. They would share their experiences about the drugs via text.

“That s… had me ZOOTED for a few hrs,” the student texted Lee, according to an affidavit obtained by the Delco Daily Times.

The district attorney said multiple students were given the drugs, but he did not specify how many. Ages of the students were not mentioned.

Stollsteimer called the allegations “deeply disturbing.”

“School crossing guards epitomize the role of a public servant,” the district attorney said. “They are — quite literally — entrusted with the lives of our children and hold a position of sacred trust in communities across the Commonwealth and the country.”

Lee is due in court June 14 for a preliminary hearing, court records show.

Penn Wood Middle School is in Darby, a suburb of Philadelphia.
