An adorable baby creature with a wrinkled snout made her debut at the North Carolina Zoo.

Winnie the baboon can be seen clinging to her mom as she gets some of her first glimpses of the world.

“Winnie will be hanging on to mom for a while, as she continues to nurse and grow,” the zoo wrote July 8 in a Facebook post.

Photos show little Winnie has sparkling eyes and short tufts of fur coming from her head. Social media users couldn’t get enough of the cuteness, including several who called the zoo’s new addition “precious” and “adorable.”

Winnie was born to mom Candy and dad Babu. Though the zoo didn’t say when the new addition was born, visitors can now find her living in the wildlife park’s rocky baboon habitat.

“It mirrors the cliff faces of their natural habitat and lets them show off their rock-climbing skills,” the zoo wrote on its website. “The size allows multiple males to form ‘one-male units’ (one male, a few females and their offspring), replicating their dynamic social system within a large, multi-generational group.”

The zoo is home to hamadryas baboons, a species that weighs up to 2 pounds at birth. The “large-bodied monkeys with a strong build and a dog-like muzzle” are native to parts of Africa and Asia, according to the San Diego Zoo.

The North Carolina Zoo didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on July 9. The wildlife center is in Asheboro, a roughly 70-mile drive west from Raleigh.
