Powerball player wins $2 million prize in Georgia. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Georgia Powerball player was a number shy of the estimated $116 million grand prize, but still scored a life-changing lottery win.
Someone in Powder Springs won $2 million after matching five numbers with the Power Play option in the drawing Wednesday, July 24, the Georgia Lottery said.
The winning ticket was purchased on the Georgia Lottery mobile app, a spokesperson told McClatchy News.
The lucky player would’ve won $1 million but spent an extra $1 on the Power Play option, doubling their prize.
It’s the latest near-miss win for the Peach State in less than a week. A single Powerball ticket matching four numbers and the red Powerball won $50,000 in the July 20 drawing, just missing the estimated $92 million jackpot.
That ticket was sold at a liquor store in Stone Mountain, McClatchy News reported.
The winning numbers on Wednesday were 16, 42, 59, 63, 68 and red Powerball 13, according to the lottery game’s website. The Powerplay option was 2X.
There were no $1 million winners, and no one hit the game’s jackpot, results show.
The next Powerball drawing is July 27 with an estimated $131 million jackpot.
