Boyfriend fatally shoots 29-year-old woman ‘running for her life,’ Texas cops say
A 34-year-old man chased his girlfriend with a pistol, shooting her several times until she died, Texas deputies said.
Merseana Struggs, 29, was “running for her life” from her boyfriend, Nicholas Finley, on July 19, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a July 30 post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “She ran from a person that was supposed to love her.”
As the woman sprinted through the apartment complex, she decided to try and hide in a car, deputies said. She couldn’t get in, so she continued running, according to Gonzalez.
Struggs had tried getting into a neighbor’s vehicle, KPRC reported.
At some point, she collapsed, deputies said, and Finley caught up to her. He stood over her and began shooting at her, Gonzalez said.
Struggs died at the scene as Finley took off with her purse and vehicle, according to deputies.
Finley was later found and arrested on July 23. He was charged with capital murder and was denied bond, according to jail records.
