Dad of two stops for coffee and lottery tickets. He starts sweating when he sees prize
A father of two stopped for lottery tickets and coffee on his way to work in Maryland.
He ended up winning a prize so big it left him sweating.
The man stopped at a store to buy four lottery tickets and won $65, the Maryland Lottery said in an Aug. 6 news release.
But instead of driving straight to work with his win, he drove another mile to a gas station in Rockville and bought more tickets.
He got a coffee and used the $65 to buy seven tickets for three games, lottery officials said.
Then he went to his car to check the tickets.
He won $250,000 off a $10 Jumbo Cash scratch-off game, lottery officials said.
“I was sweating. I was wondering if the prize was real,” he told lottery officials.
The mechanic texted his wife about the win, drove to work, stashed his winning ticket under his seat and couldn’t stop thinking about his prize throughout his day, officials said.
“I visited the car four times that day while at work to be sure the scratch-off was still there,” he said.
The man and his wife are going to use the prize money to remodel their home and pay off a student loan.
Rockville is about a 40-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.
