The bright pink color of a Missouri lottery ticket drew the player to make the purchase, but what she eventually scratched off left her in shock.

“I sat in my car in disbelief, in tears,” she told Missouri Lottery officials in an Aug. 5 news release.

She immediately took the ticket to her daughter who suggested they first confirm the prize.

When the ticket scanner said to claim the prize at the lottery office, the player from Sullivan learned her $2 million win was official.

Her method of choosing a scratch-off ticket is simple, she told officials. The pick is based on its looks. The bright pink ticket, with the huge prize sparkling at the top, stood out to the player.

Now, the woman must decide what to do with the winnings.

“I’m going to keep it hush-hush,” she told lottery officials. “I’m going to continue to work and do what I’m doing, just maintain until I wrap my head around this.”

Sullivan is about a 150-mile drive northeast of Springfield.
