A woman ejected from a vehicle as it plunged 1,000 feet off a cliff died, Arizona sheriff’s officials reported.

Deputies responded to reports of a crash in the Thumb Butte area at about 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

They found a vehicle crashed 1,000 feet down the steep mountainside along with the body of Kristin Little, 39, of Prescott, deputies said.

Little had been ejected from the vehicle about halfway down the cliff as it fell, deputies said.

Drones and a helicopter did not find any other occupants, deputies said.

Rescuers remained with the body until morning, when it was recovered, deputies said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Yavapai County is about a 100-mile drive north from Phoenix.
