Ex-worker unmuzzles his dog, threatens to have it attack people at business, NJ cops say
A former employee arrived at a New Jersey business with his pit bull and removed its muzzle, threatening to have the dog attack the business’s owner and others inside, police said.
The man warned he’d unleash his dog at the business suite in Norwood on Sept. 6 if he wasn’t paid, saying the company owed him $7,000, the Norwood Police Department said in a Sept. 13 news release.
He also threatened to kill the business owner and employees in the suite, and he threatened to “send people to their homes to kill their family members,” police said.
Officers responded to the business at about 1:53 p.m. and learned the man held everyone in the room against their will for about 45 minutes, according to authorities.
He left after a check was issued to him, police said.
The 57-year-old was arrested at his home in New City, New York, by the Clarkstown Police Department on charges of robbery, criminal restraint and terroristic threats, according to police, who didn’t identify the man in the news release. Clarkstown is about a 10-mile drive north of Norwood.
Information regarding the man’s legal representation wasn’t immediately available.
On Sept. 11, he was transported to New Jersey, where he’s detained in the Bergen County Jail, after police said he waived extradition in New York.
