A father is accused of killing a man he discovered alone in a vehicle with his missing child, Arkansas authorities say.

The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to a home Oct. 8 when Aaron Spencer reported his child missing.

As deputies were on their way, they learned Spencer had found the missing child in a vehicle with Michael Fosler, the sheriff’s office said.

A confrontation ensued between Spencer and Fosler, leading to the father shooting the other man, deputies said. Fosler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Spencer, 36, was charged with first-degree murder and jailed in the Lonoke County Detention Center, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office did not state Fosler’s age. The child found with Fosler was a 14-year-old girl, THV 11 reported.

Lonoke County is about a 30-mile drive east from Little Rock.
