Dad said baby was hurt in fall off changing table, OH cops say. He’s charged with murder
An Ohio father is charged with murder in the death of one of his twin daughters, police said.
Police and EMS personnel responded Nov. 4 at about 7 a.m. to a report of a 4-month-old girl not breathing, according to a Nov. 7 news release from the Goshen Township Police Department.
The baby was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, police said.
The father told police he was changing the baby’s diaper when she fell off the changing table, WLWT reported, citing court records.
An MRI showed the infant had “substantial” hemorrhaging around her brain, the outlet reported.
Court records say the result of an autopsy performed by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office indicates the baby’s injuries were “inconsistent with an accidental fall,” WCPO reported.
During an investigation into the incident, authorities learned the baby’s twin sister also had “serious physical injuries in the past, which had not been reported,” police said.
The children’s father was arrested on charges that include aggravated murder, felonious assault, three counts of murder and two counts of endangering children, court records show.
McClatchy News is not naming the father to protect the identity of the surviving twin.
Goshen Township is about a 30-mile drive northeast from Cincinnati.
