A lucky Virginia player was overwhelmed with emotion after winning big in a scratch-off game, lottery officials said.

Trina Crider called her sleeping husband in tears after scratching off a $125,000 top prize in the Merry Money 50X game, the Virginia Lottery said in a Jan. 8 news release.

She bought her winning ticket at a gas station in Ridgeway, about a 45-mile drive north from Greensboro, North Carolina, lottery officials said.

When Crider presented her ticket to lottery officials, she told them she was relieved.

“I just wanted to make it here!” she said.

The Merry Money 50X game came out in December and features prizes ranging from $5 to the $125,000 top prize, the lottery said.

The overall odds of winning are 1 in 4.59 and the odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 367,200.

As of Jan. 9, two top prizes remain unclaimed, according to the lottery website.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
