Powerball player wins $1 million prize. Where in the US was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball ticket sold in Virginia won $1 million, but just missed the $285 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning Powerball numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Monday, Jan. 13, the national Powerball site said.
The winning ticket was sold at a Wegmans in Fredericksburg, the Virginia Lottery said. Fredericksburg is about a 60-mile drive north from Richmond..
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $303 million, with a cash value of about $132.8 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Jan. 15, the site said.
The winning numbers were 4, 6, 16, 39 and 66 with a Powerball of 9, the lottery said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
More than 460,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot has not been hit since Dec. 7, when a New York player won the $256 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
