Witnesses help 22-year-old woman being kidnapped by boyfriend, Washington cops say
Witnesses helped a 22-year-old woman being kidnapped by her boyfriend in Washington, police said.
The couple was first seen at 5:38 p.m. March 14 at a business, the Kent Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Police said the 30-year-old man was seen dragging his girlfriend and forcing her into a vehicle.
Witnesses tried to stop him but police said he fled. The witnesses then called 911 and gave authorities the vehicle’s license plate, police said.
Another witness reported seeing the couple about 10 minutes later.
They saw the woman run from the vehicle as her boyfriend ran after her and dragged her back to the car, police said.
Police later stopped the boyfriend and arrested him on suspicion of kidnapping and assault. DUI charges are pending blood test results, according to police.
The girlfriend was found with “bruising and injuries consistent with a struggle,” police said.
Police said the two had been together for a year and had just moved from another state.
Police did not disclose the business or the names of anyone involved.
Kent is about a 20-mile drive northeast from Tacoma.
