McDonald’s brings back Happy Meal toys not seen in 2 years. Here’s what to know
To the joy of Squishmallows collectors, the beloved toy is back in McDonald’s Happy Meals.
The nostalgic boxed meals featuring one of 12 “pocket-sized” plush toys were available as of May 13 at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, according to the fast-food chain.
“You’ve waited patiently for two years, and we want to let all collectors know, there’s a new squad on the block that you won’t want to miss out on,” McDonald’s said in a news release.
This year’s “squad” features a newcomer: an intergalactic axolotl named Halley, the restaurant said.
The Squishmallows Happy Meal had been offered in select international markets to much success before launching in the U.S. in 2023, marking its first limited-time run, McClatchy News previously reported.
Since then, the restaurant has rolled out other themed meal boxes, including an All American Games Happy Meal and “adult” meal bag inspired by “A Minecraft Movie” (2024).
Each Squishmallows Happy Meal includes customers’ choice of a hamburger, 4-count or 6-count nuggets. It also comes with one of 12 collectible Squishmallows toys, each outfitted with a character hang tag and code to unlock an interactive game, McDonald’s said.
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
Customers can order the Squishmallows Happy Meal in-restaurant, in the drive thru and online while supplies last, the restaurant said.
