Family with baby ‘traumatized’ in attack that hospitalized dad, CA officials say
A 25-year-old has been convicted after being accused of attacking a dad and threatening his family in California, prosecutors said.
In April 2024, Jefferson Silva assaulted a father and threatened his wife and their baby while they were out on a family walk near a playground, according to a May 21 news release by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
The dad was hospitalized and the family was “traumatized,” prosecutors said.
Officials didn’t specify the extent of the dad’s injuries or if the attack was random.
Officers arrived and gave him medical attention before taking him by ambulance to San Francisco General Hospital, prosecutors said.
A jury convicted Silva on charges of assault and criminal threats, prosecutors said.
“I am grateful that, after carefully considering the evidence presented at trial, the jury delivered a fair and just verdict,” Assistant District Attorney Samantha Zurcher said in the release. “This conviction shows that the people of San Francisco will not tolerate unlawful violence in our city, especially against families.”
