A Georgia Lottery player tried their luck — and netted a half million-dollar prize.

A Covington resident hit the Fantasy 5 jackpot, winning $529,972 in the drawing Tuesday, June 3, according to the Georgia Lottery. The winning ticket, sold on the Georgia Lottery app, matched all five numbers.

The winner had not come forward as of June 4, a lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News.

The winning Fantasy 5 numbers were 6-27-28-35-36, results show. The lucky player beat odds of 1 in 850,668 to take the top prize.

Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes and are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket, the Georgia Lottery’s website says.

Covington is about a 30-mile drive southeast from downtown Atlanta.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
