A man died after he was blown out of the bed of a pickup truck, Georgia deputies said.

The “tragic accident” happened at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, along Mount Olivet Road in Hartwell, according to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators learned Matthew Hill, 59, was riding in the truck bed while holding a camouflage hunting blind. Witnesses told deputies the wind blew the blind from the back of the truck, carrying Hill with it.

Hill was flown to a hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” deputies said.

Authorities didn’t release additional details but said the investigation is ongoing.

Hartwell is about a 110-mile drive northeast from downtown Atlanta.
