A Michigan man couldn’t believe how much he won on a lottery prize he had been waiting to win for a long time.

The 84-year-old man played Fantasy 5 for the Aug. 16 drawing, according to a Sept. 10 news release from the Michigan Lottery.

“After I bought my ticket online, I wrote down my numbers so I could check them the next day,” he told lottery officials. “The morning after the drawing, I got on MichiganLottery.com to look at the results and saw someone won the jackpot.”

The Macomb County man hit the jackpot for $481,582 with numbers 1-3-7-23-38. He couldn’t believe it.

“I started matching my numbers and went into shock when I realized I was the jackpot winner,” he said.

The man said the win has been a long time coming.

“I have been playing Fantasy 5 for a long time hoping to win big, and I can’t believe it finally happened,” the player said.

He said he plans to share his winnings with family.
