World Series champion Hunter Pence lists seaside CA estate. ‘Sense of peace’
In San Francisco, former Giants outfielder Hunter Pence, with his wild expressions and playing style that resembled a spider on a hot plate, left a legacy that drove beyond the baseball world, one he hopes to pass on to younger players.
In Malibu, he hopes to pass on a piece of his own imagination to someone else — the future owner of his custom seaside estate.
Listed for $39 million, the residence is a stylish ode to mid-century modernism, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms across 7,356 square feet. The now-sports broadcaster said he was drawn to this part of this world due to its sense of tranquility.
“Malibu’s surf, energy, and the sense of peace drew me to this location. Building this home was all about creating a private retreat where my family could slow down, recharge, and enjoy everything this community has to offer,” Pence said.
The residence has a cornucopia of high-end features, per the listing, including:
- Ocean views
- Indoor-outdoor floorplan
- Water wall
- High ceilings
- Bay fireplace
- Stone pocket walls
- Wraparound deck
- Lap pool
- Jacuzzi
- Home office
- Gourmet kitchen
There’s even an outdoor oasis that includes a fire pit, outdoor kitchen and a walk-up bar.
Pence bought the property in 2016, two years after celebrating his second World Series championship with the Giants, and customized it as a “family retreat,” a news release says.
“My hope is that whoever steps into it, makes their own unforgettable memories here,” Pence said.
Now an on-air analyst for the Giants on NBC Sports Bay Area, Pence — known as The Reverend thanks to his passionate pre-game pep talks — retired in 2021 and was an essential part of the franchise during their World Series run in 2012 and 2014. During his career, he had a batting average of .279 along with 244 home runs, and 942 RBIs.
The listing is held by Linda Joy Kanner with Compass.
