A victim of an alleged sexual assault, a girl took a video of her accused attacker as he ran away, Kentucky police say.

That video — along with help from a “vigilant” tipster — has now led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man, according to the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said the juvenile victim was waiting to be picked up from her Louisville private school Sept. 18 when a man “approached her and inappropriately touched her.”

As the man fled, the girl took a video of him running through a residential area. Police shared the video on Facebook on Sept. 24 in their attempts to detain him.

“We understand the video may not offer much, but we’re asking the community to help identify this individual,” police said at the time.

The footage was just enough, according to police, for the man to be identified. A “vigilant and anonymous tipster” responded to the department’s post, helping them arrest 27-year-old Jacob Burnett.

“Your courage and commitment to protecting our community made a difference,” police said Sept. 29 of the tipster.

Burnett is charged with first-degree sexual abuse and was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections, according to police.

He is due in court Oct. 1 for an arraignment, court records show.
