Tiny puppy tossed from car in Texas — but ‘quick-thinking’ witness saves the day
Thanks to a quick- thinking good Samaritan, a little puppy is on the mend after surviving a terrible moment of abuse in Texas.
The baby, now known as Tommy, is under the care of Austin Pets Alive after being transferred to two different facilities after a witness saved his tiny, brand new, life.
“Tommy was thrown from a car and a community member witnessed the horrific scene! Luckily, someone was there to step in when the person in the car failed this sweet puppy,” Austin Pets Alive said in an Oct. 7 Facebook post.
“This quick-thinking individual alerted animal services who brought the puppy into an emergency clinic to receive immediate treatment overnight.”
The clinic was able to identify seizure activity like due to the head trauma Tommy received from the throw. From there, he was transferred to the Austin Animal Center before finally arriving at Austin Pets Alive, the shelter said.
And thankfully, he’s starting to improve.
“Today, we’re seeing that despite experiencing such a traumatic experience, Tommy still has a fervor for eating — he licks his bowl clean every time, and has some of that puppy playfulness in him!” the shelter said.
“Our medical team has tied some bells to his collar to help monitor for seizures, is providing anti-seizure and pain management medication, along with the typical intake needs for a puppy, like dewormers.”
According to the shelter, Tommy will be available to foster later this week.
“Though there may be some individuals in the community that make choices that cause pain, we’re grateful that there are more well-intentioned and loving people who join us in standing up for those who need us,” the shelter said.
