Some Nature Made supplements are being recalled over salmonella, staph worries
The manufacturer of Nature Made supplements is recalling some of its popular products over worries they may be contaminated with salmonella or staphylococcus aureus.
Pharmavite, the dietary supplement company, said Tuesday it was pulling the following products from retailers:
- Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi vitamins
- Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi + Omega-3
- Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi for Her plus Omega-3s
- Nature Made Super B Complex w/C Folic Acid Tablets
The company also said it was pulling some lots of Nature Made Adult Gummies Hair, Skin, Nails and Nature Made Vitamin D 1000 IU Tablets “out of an abundance of caution” for reasons unrelated to the potential salmonella or staphylococcus aureus contamination.
Salmonella and staphylococcus aureus are both bacteria tied to food poisoning — salmonella in particular is associated with fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Staphylococcus aureus, often shortened to staph, can cause blisters and boils in addition to infections in the bloodstream, bone tissue and joints.
Consumers can find the recalled lot numbers on the company’s website to check if their product matches, and send any recalled products back for a full refund.
