Start your week in North Carolina politics with our latest Under the Dome podcast, for the week of March 11, 2024. Dawn Vaughan here, your podcast host and state Capitol bureau chief. I’m joined by my fellow politics reporters Avi Bajpai, Luciana Perez Uribe Guinassi and Kyle Ingram.

We produced two Under the Dome podcasts for you over the past week. On the latest episode out today, the four of us break down post-primary analysis of the N.C. Supreme Court and Court of Appeals primary elections, as well as General Assembly races. The legislative primaries had some surprises, and some races hinge on the final canvass to determine their outcomes.

Plus, hear about the general election for attorney general, with Democratic primary winner Jeff Jackson facing Republican Dan Bishop — both current members of Congress. We talk about what having Freedom Caucus member Bishop on the ballot along with MAGA-wing Republican primary winners will mean in the general election.

If you missed our bonus post-primary podcast, you can catch up on that, too. It’s the edited version of our X (formerly Twitter) Space held with our colleagues at the Charlotte Observer and our D.C. correspondent Danielle Battaglia. On that episode, we talk about the governor, Council of State and congressional primaries, including big upsets. There’s also an appearance from our N&O K-12 reporter Keung Hui.

Headliner of the Week

Stay tuned to the end of our latest episode for our picks for Headliner of the Week. Mine is about that other major March event coming up, while Ingram and Bajpai pick election-related Headliners and Perez Uribe reminds us all to touch grass.

Listen to our latest episode below and catch up on previous episodes. You can also listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Audible, iHeart, Pandora, Amazon Music and Stitcher.
