Progressive U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York postponed a visit to Raleigh planned for this weekend following the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat who has been on a national “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders, had been scheduled to speak at a rally with the North Carolina Democratic Party on Sunday, alongside other unnamed “special guests.”

The party announced Thursday her event would be postponed.

The New York Times reported that Ocasio-Cortez said she postponed the event out of respect for Kirk and due to security concerns.

A manhunt is still underway to identify and apprehend Kirk’s shooter. Investigators say they are looking for a “college-age” suspect.
