Hillary Clinton becomes Democratic candidate for president with help from her daughter, Katy Perry — and ‘God’
The Democrats capped off four nights of ratings-winning TV with a film narrated by “God.”
Oh, and Hillary Clinton became their candidate for president.
What’s a night at the DNC without another sing-along? Before Clinton hit the stage, Carole King and drummer Sheila E warmed up the crowd.

Carole King is singing "You've got a friend" at the convention. 3000 people singing along. Well, maybe not the Bernie bots. Probably booing

Carole King is singing You've Got A Friend, arguably a better convention choice than It's Too Late.

Forget all the worries about having to follow a parade of high power speakers, Hillary has to follow Sheila E now? https://t.co/FqSTZL4bA6

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar came out and slapped Donald Trump up the side of the head.
“I’m Michael Jordan and I’m here with Hillary,” he joked. “I say that because I know Donald Trump couldn’t tell the difference.”
Trump fans (presumably) slammed Abdul-Jabbar for the jab.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said Trump couldn't tell the difference between him and Micheal Jordan. Terrible race baiting.

I'm waiting for @realDonaldTrump to say that Kareem wasn't all that good of a basketball player. #DemsInPhilly

OK, Repubs, let's make it basketball 5x5 -- we have Kareem, the Collins twins, Obama and a point guard somewhere -- you? #DemsInPhilly

Also, I'll bet anyone $100 that someone in the Trump campaign refers to Kareem as "Lew Alcindor" in the next 24 hours.

Katy Perry, the daughter of pastors, urged everyone to vote for Clinton like she plans to — if for no other reason than “cancel out your weird cousin’s vote.”
There were obviously a lot of Katy Perry fans in the crowd as she sang two her hits — “Rise” and “Roar.”
So excited for Katy Perry to address the anti-bullying platform Taylor Swift helped her develop #DemsInPhilly

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton introduced herself as a “proud American, a proud Democrat, a proud mother, and tonight, in particular, a very, very proud daughter.”
She told America how Clinton — her “wonderful, thoughtful, hilarious mother” — Facetimes with her granddaughter.
She told America that when she was young her mother read her “Goodnight Moon,” looked for shapes in the clouds with her and patiently endured her childhood obsession with dinosaurs and the book “A Wrinkle in Time.”
She told America how her mother left notes for her when she traveled, raised her to know how fortunate a life she had and challenged her not to squander it by changing what “frustrated me, to change what felt wrong. They told me that’s what comes with being smiled on by fate.”
She told America that her mother taught her that “public service is about service.”
And America? America graded Chelsea’s speaking ability kindly, on the curve.
And Oprah Winfrey gave her some love on Twitter.
Chelsea, after all the vulgar things they threw at you as a kid--who's laughing now? You're accomplished, poised, and so damn smart. Proud!

Shonda Rhimes, the creator of the ABC hit drama, “Scandal,” about a Washington fixer, created the 5-minute biographical video shown before Clinton spoke. Rhimes is an active Clinton supporter.
It took Twitter only a hot second to realize that “God” — aka Morgan Freeman — was narrating that film.
Game over, Twitter declared.
