With five-term labor commissioner Cherie Berry not seeking another term, the seat is open.

North Carolina’s labor commissioner oversees the state’s department of labor, which is tasked with conducting inspections and investigations meant to keep the state’s workforce safe.

The next labor commissioner, be it Republican Josh Dobson, who has served as a state representative for the last seven years, or Democratic Wake County Commissioner Jessica Homes, will oversee the agency. Both responded to our candidate questionnaire. See what they said.
