Trump upstages Cruz during speech

Donald Trump is not done one-upping Ted Cruz.

The Texas senator was finishing his speech at the Republican National Convention Wednesday, without endorsing the Republican nominee, when Trump took the opportunity to enter the convention hall to chants of “we want Trump!” from the audience.

Delegates in the convention hall booed Cruz, who only mentioned Trump’s name once in his speech.

Cruz was the second-to-last candidate left standing in a crowded Republican primary that saw him in bitter competition with Trump.

Cruz told the crowd to “vote their conscience” and urged people watching from home not to stay home in November.

Trump has unconventionally appeared in some form each night of the party gathering in Cleveland. The nominee typically does not appear until the last night of the convention, to formally accept the nomination. He sat with his family Wednesday to watch the evening’s remaining speeches, including one by his son Eric Trump.
