What is Benson doing right, and wrong, on managing growth?
We have a very active Planning Department, and the Board of Commissioners approves all the houses that are brought to them if they meet our requirements. We have our Land Use Plan being improved with a consultant`s help. Not doing all these things fast enough.
If elected, what would your two or three priorities be during your first year in office?
Increase the sewer capacity to handle the growth that is projected to be on the way to us. (2) Be able to fulfill all the infrastructure needs in Storm Water and Waste Water. (3) Pave as many streets as possible to reduce the number of pot holes on the streets. (4) Improve Economic Development Program to provide jobs so our residents can work close to home.
What unique skills or life experience would you bring to city governance?
I spent 39 years with Westinghouse and ABB which has provided me expertise in a number of fields that helps in being mayor and helping to be conservative in the spending of our money received from our residents.
