An outside group that backs national officeholders who support clean energy on Friday launched a radio ad buy endorsing U.S. Sen. Richard Burr in his re-election campaign against Deborah Ross.

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions says it is spending $120,000 on the buy, which will air commercials in Raleigh and Charlotte.

“Senator Richard Burr deserves to be commended for his record of supporting renewable energy, promote conservation, and place the economic needs and health of North Carolinians before partisanship,” said CRES Chairman and Executive Director James Dozier. “CRES is committed to ensuring that elected leaders focused on supporting clean energy policies that grow the economy, strengthen our national security, and preserve our environment for future generations return to Congress to continue their record of leadership.”

The nonprofit organization has spent $660,000 on candidates and committees in the 2016 elections, it says, and plans to step up support for House and Senate candidates who align with its views.
