US Sen. Thom Tillis jams to Death Cab for Cutie, Queen on Spotify playlist
North Carolina’s junior senator was among 20 members of Congress who agreed to make a playlist of their favorite songs on the music streaming service Spotify.
Republican U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis was the only lawmaker from North Carolina on Spotify’s list of the “biggest music fans” in Congress.
“In today’s hyper-partisan and divided political world, there are few things that bring people together like music,” a post on Spotify’s website said. “We asked some of the biggest music fans on Capitol Hill for their playlists, and as you can see, despite their political leanings or what state they represent in Congress, their love for music is universal.”
Tillis’ 27-song playlist includes the political rally standard “Only In America” by Brooks & Dunn as well as some classics like Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl,” Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” and Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.”
But Tillis also favors music more likely to be heard in a hip urban coffee shop than a GOP campaign event: Death Cab For Cutie’s “When Soul Meets Body,” Modest Mouse’s “Ocean Breathes Salty” and Spoon’s “Don’t You Evah.”
