A man who wanted a tour of a North Carolina military base’s special operations area is facing criminal charges, according to court documents.

Nouran Ahmad Shibab Sueidan was at Fort Bragg last week when he said he had a foreign military ID and wanted to see the U.S. Army base’s special operations area, a U.S. District court criminal complaint says.

The incident involving Sueidan, a “foreign national,” caused one of the base’s gates to close for hours, according to The Fayetteville Observer.

Sueidan shared his comments with military officers after he refused to show his ID to three of them, a U.S. Attorney said in a court document filed Tuesday.

He also “produced an expired Jordanian Passport, expired Texas driver’s License, expired vehicle registration and no proof of vehicle insurance,” according to a court document.

In addition, Sueidan showed a visa that “appeared to have handwritten modifications,” military police said in the criminal complaint.

When Sueidan found out he couldn’t go onto Fort Bragg, he said he “needed to make entry to the installation to ‘take a tour of the Special Operations facility to identify if it was worth his time,’” according to court records.

He resisted being put in handcuffs and acted against an officer’s orders, court filings say.

Sueidan is facing charges related to his ID documents and interactions with law enforcement officers, according to Tuesday’s filing.

“A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Sueidan’s lawyer asked for a continuance to ‘pursue a forensic psychologist,’” and has until Friday to show the court a statement, The Fayetteville Observer reported.
