Wanted NC man was bloody and unconscious when deputies found him, cops say

A man wanted in connection with a North Carolina shooting was bloody and unconscious when deputies caught up with him, according to cops.

John Henry Morgan, 55, had warrants for assault with intent to kill and other criminal charges, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday in a Facebook post.

Deputies began looking for Morgan on March 22 after a man was shot from behind while trying to collect rent, according to the sheriff’s office. The man got in an argument and was hit with a bullet in his “lower leg,” officials said.

The sheriff’s office on Tuesday tracked Morgan to an Asheboro house and heard an “audible domestic disturbance coming from the residence,” according to the department’s Facebook post.

Authorities say Morgan was found “beaten, unconscious, and bloody by unknown means,” and he told deputies he had fallen. He was taken to a hospital and then put in jail, according to the sheriff’s office Facebook post.

Morgan is also facing charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, interfere with electronic monitoring device and fail to report change of address-sex offender, online court records show. His bond was set at $75,000, officials say.
